Many of us have a fairly small bathroom and it isn’t our fault because when we bought the house, this was the bathroom that we got and there was nothing that we could do about it at that time.
The bathroom however is an incredibly important room in your house and especially so if you have other family members wanting to use it as well. Rather than letting it change your life in a negative way, there are a few things that you can do to hopefully save yourself some space and to create some new space as well for your next bathroom renovation.
It usually the case that things like your bath are taking up far too much space and so it makes perfect sense that you would want to install a back to wall bath which takes up a lot less room and looks a lot better. Its sleek and slim line looks are perfect for a small bathroom area and as well as installing this in your space, the following are just some of the things that you can do to save yourself space in what is likely the most important room in your property.
- Think about a corner sink – We don’t utilise the corners in our bathroom enough and so this offers you the perfect solution because you can take out that old sink that is taking up far too much room and replace it with one that fits perfectly into the corner.
- Utilise space above your toilet – People very seldom use the space directly over the back of the toilet and this is space that is being wasted. Clearly you need to leave a gap for repairs so that if the plumber needs to do any work then he or she can get in there, but apart from that it is the perfect place to install some extra shelves for your toiletries and other needs.
- Use sliding doors when possible – If the door to your shower swings out for example then the perfect answer would be to switch this with a sliding door that is going to take up a lot less room. The same applies to the door into the bathroom itself because if it is a door that swings inwards then installing a sliding door takes up a lot less room.
- Put up some towel racks – These will remove the wet towels from the floor of your toilet that your kids keep throwing there every time they have a bath or shower. Removing the mirror from the wall and replacing it with a cabinet that has there on the front will allow you to move all of the little things that you have scattered around your sink into it. This creates a lot more room for you to move around and maybe thing about storing those cleaning products for the toilet, shower and bath somewhere else.
These are four excellent space saving ideas and if you do a little bit of out-of-the-box thinking, you can probably come up with a few more.
