They put all their hard work into their designed spaces as it takes a certain eye to be able to pull a room together and make it fabulous, functional and attractive, all at the same time. But, not everyone can afford to hire an interior designer.
People still think that we need to live in a palace or so to hire a decorator. It’s like, old habits die hard. People themselves can design their home using their own individual design, tastes, skill and preferences. A house can be given a chic update to turn it from boring to beautiful, without the expense of a professional designer.

1. Wall Color
Selecting the color theme is a tough part. Prefer colors like beige, gray or white, especially on the first floor, where flow is important as neutral walls gives the greatest decorating flexibility and also allows to easily switch up with accessories. Also, remember that color is influenced by how much light is brought into the house.
Try to make a combination of three shades that is one for walls, another one for larger accents such as couches or chairs, and then the third color that pops in smaller accessories such as pillows, flowers etc. Three is always better than one or two, as a room done in one color is boring.

2. Layer the Lighting
A room should have three kinds of lighting that are ambient, which comes from ceiling fixtures; task, which is found over a kitchen island and accent, which is more decorative and highlighting. Floor and table lamps can be placed at different heights around the room. Hanging lights is another option and can be placed over dining tables.
3. Lengthen or Raise the Ceiling
Hang curtains higher than the windows as it makes the room look taller. Also, try vertical striped patterned curtains as the lines visually elongate the walls. Leaning a large mirror against a wall also makes a room seem taller.
4. Rugs
Rugs should be used instead of mats. It defines the seating area. All four legs of the sofa or the chair should fit on it, or at least the front two legs of the sofa or the chair should rest on it as every living room requires a rug to properly accommodate the seating area.

5. Coffee Table
When designing the coffee table, make sure to have something large and wonderful in the middle, some flowers, a huge bowl filled with sea urchins or something else interesting. Candles, stack of books, or a pottery can also be kept on the table. Make sure to make it interesting and not to forget to change it regularly.

6. Mirror
At least, one mirror should be hanged in every room as it makes a space feel brighter because they bounce the light around the room. Mirrors should be hanged on walls perpendicular to the windows and not directly across them as hanging a mirror directly opposite a window can actually bounce the light back out of the window.
